Mr. Patrick Hoima Makaya

Founder & CEO/President 

Mr. Patrick Hoima Makaya is the founder and CEO of Right to Development, Inc., a humanitarian non-profit based in Delaware, USA. A native of Sierra Leone, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics Education and a Master’s in Business Administration with a finance focus. With over 21 years of experience in both the private and public sectors, he has collaborated with numerous NGOs and initiated various charitable projects in Sierra Leone and elsewhere. In the public sector, he has also lectured at Njala University in Sierra Leone. As a development specialist, Mr. Makaya is skilled in securing funding, fostering donor relationships, and coordinating fundraising efforts for non-profits, with expertise in areas such as organizational capacity building, change management, executive coaching, and institutional analysis. He has contributed to knowledge transfer through reports and policies and has served as a board member and consultant for multiple organizations.

Ms. Josephine Kadie Ngegba

Vice President - African Chapter

Josephine K Ngegba is a Sierra Leonean with a master's degree in Peace and Development Studies, as well as a Bachelor's and Diploma of Social Science from the University of Sierra Leone - Fourah Bay College, currently pursuing a law degree at Njala University. With over ten years of experience in implementing and supervising development projects funded by major donors, she possesses a strong background in program and contract management, particularly with EU-funded initiatives. Josephine demonstrates leadership skills in managing diverse teams and excels in writing concept notes, proposals, and reports. She is proficient in Microsoft Office and has experience collaborating with government and traditional authorities. Known for her effective team leadership, problem-solving capabilities, and strong communication and interpersonal skills, she is a results-driven self-starter who is skilled at multitasking and motivating teams to achieve organizational objectives.

Dr. Joseph Gbanabom Conteh is a highly accomplished professional with a career spanning over a decade, marked by significant contributions in project management, consulting, and financial services across sectors such as education, healthcare, and rural development. Originating from Sierra Leone, he pursued extensive academic and professional development, earning multiple degrees, including a Ph.D., and several certifications. Dr. Conteh has demonstrated expertise in personalized financial solutions, curriculum development, healthcare policy, and community empowerment, particularly through his work with non-profits and advocacy for women’s rights. His leadership, dedication to service, and scholarly contributions, including research on healthcare disparities, have earned him recognition and respect in his field.

     Ms. Haja Bilkisu Conteh

   Secretary General & Board Member â€‹

Haja Bilkisu Conteh, originally from Sierra Leone, relocated to Germany at the age of five due to civil war. She obtained her general higher education entrance qualification and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Heidelberg, followed by a Master of Science in Social Development Practice from University College London. After completing her master's, she managed a refugee shelter in Germany for two years and has since worked for nearly six years as a job placement officer at the Federal Employment Agency. A passionate advocate for women's rights, Ms. Conteh campaigns against Female Genital Mutilation, which she experienced at age eight. In May 2024, she shared her story with BBC Africa regarding her reconstructive surgery, and in February 2025, she published her debut book titled "Strength is her Beauty: A Story on Overcoming Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting," with plans for further projects in the future.

Dr. Samuel Tarawally

Dr. Samuel Lansana Tarawally is a dedicated and accomplished medical doctor with a strong background in biomedical sciences, clinical medicine, and public health research. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biomedical Sciences and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, University of Sierra Leone. Currently pursuing a PhD in Epidemiology, Dr. Tarawally brings over a decade of experience in clinical practice, medical education, and public health program implementation. He has served as a lecturer in human anatomy and medical physiology across multiple faculties and was a pivotal figure in Sierra Leone’s Ebola response, notably managing study enrollment for the STRIVE vaccine trial. Now based in the United States, he continues to contribute to healthcare delivery as a Certified Medical Assistant, Administrator, Phlebotomist, and EKG Technician at INOVA GoHealth Urgent Care. With numerous professional development certifications, Dr. Tarawally combines academic rigor, practical clinical skills, and a deep commitment to healthcare improvement in both local and global contexts.
